Favourite haunt of Echo and the Bunnymen front man Ian McCulloch, this pub has seen many changes over a short time.

This Georgian style pub sits deep and well into the Georgian buildings of Catherine Street – just a short walk away from the famous Liverpool Cathedrals and the Philharmonic theatre – even though it edges ideally nearer to the likes of Peter Kavanagh’s pub.

The warm friendly atmosphere and chatty locals who reside in this pub are well worth the journey to stop in for a pint or two.

Just five years ago, this pub underwent renovation to become one of the best gastro pubs in the city centre.  Sadly, this is no longer the case.  Reverting to a pub suited more for those who wish to watch sports – as there are plenty of screens to watch football in this venue.

However, it still serves great British food.  Famed city wide for its Sunday roast and uses the finest of ingredients in all of the Blackburne’s dishes on the menu.  Along with the fine cuisine served, this pub proudly shows off a mixture of real ales, cocktails, beers from around the globe.

The Blackburne also has a place for you to stay as it holds a few rooms and offers room service if needed.

Overall, if you happen to be wandering the outskirts of the city, the Blackburne is well worth a visit.
