Far on the out reaches of town, lies a hidden secret known as Peter Kavanagh’s.

This 150 year old pub oozes character and has the paraphernalia on its walls to prove it.  Indeed one could say it is a little on the eccentric side – But well worth a visit.

During its time, Peter Kavanagh’s has been under many guises such as The Liver, The Liver Inn, The Grapes Hotel, Peter’s Hotel, Peter’s and The Grapes.  It sits nicely among the terraced houses of Egerton Street and Catherine Street.

It may seem dark inside and appear to be stuck in the past with the elegant artwork and stained glass leaded windows.  However, this is just only a small part of the magic of PK’s – as it offers a small range of real ales.

Food speciality comes in no nonsense pub pies, pasties and bar snacks.   Music provided here is from CDs played from behind the bar.  And the special events on offer here are quiz nights on Thursdays; Irish musicians on Fridays.  You can even use the piano in the front room to ply your musical wares.
