During the late 1950’s, this public house used to be the favourite watering hole of the Beatles’ John Lennon.  Indeed he even moaned about being so famous that he could no longer visit this marvellous place.

Formerly a place to go and play billiards, this is a grade II listed building that has two side rooms known as named Brahms and Liszt – which used to be the smoking and non-smoking rooms.  These are small and cosy inviting rooms and a great place to have an intimate conversion.

With the billiard table now gone, the refurbished lounge is now one large room with Edwardian style décor.  Even the marble made urinals are talk of the town where ladies can even have a guided tour of the gents.

The Phil is handy for other local bars and of course the entertainment from the nearby theatre.  It offers 12 different real ales along with the usual suspects of fine wines and spirits.  This is a necessary tourist attraction to visit when in Liverpool and a great place to enjoy pub food.
