• McFly into Liverpool

  Rock popsters McFly arrive in Liverpool to rock the house down with their own brand of infectious brand of catchy pop rock as part of their Above the noise tour.

  The tour which kicks off in Sheffield later this month hits Liverpool on the tenth stage of the tour which extends in 29 dates across the UK – providing a warm up for their very first world tour in their seven year career.

  The band which began in 2004 after lead singer Tom Fletcher failed to gain a place in the band Busted’s line up despite writing songs for the band in the beginning.

  Mcfly hit the heady heights of success right from the off with their debut album Room on the 3rd floor hit the number one slot in the album charts upon its release.   This followed a strong flow of hits that ensured that they saw a string of 18 top twenty hits and five successive albums.  McFly were also voted the 2008 Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards – Best Band.

  After opening up an original tour of the album  in a series of intimate venues warming up for the bigger stages.  Fans already have a flavour of what to expect at the bigger venues where the atmosphere only guarantees excitement as they play all their old favourites to their die hard fans.

  McFly released their single ‘That’s the truth’ on March 6 and play the Liverpool Echo Arena on March 29.

• FC Braga at Anfield

  

  Reaching the last sixteen of the Europa league for Liverpool this time around has been a somewhat unorthodox affair for the reds in the style of play, as they pursue their only chance of silverware for this season.  As FC Braga stand in the away between Liverpool and a place in the last eight of this years cup challenge.

  Despite dropping out of the Champions league earlier this season.  Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish will be wary of the Portuguese Liga runners up last year – when Celtic lost 3-0 to the former Intertoto cup winners of 2008 with a tremendous Brazilian strike partnership in Osario Alan and Lima  – proving to be dangerous opponents at their home ground the Quarry.

  Dalglish will be hoping for an injury free squad for the first time since his reign began in time for the second leg at Anfield – which may yet yield the results of the developing partnership between Luis Suarez and Andy Carrol.  And prove that this partnership is becoming the fierce strike pair  it is expected to be in the coming weeks and for next season.

• All Time Low To Hit High At Echo Arena

  As Pop punk continues to grow in popularity with bands such as McFly and Blink 182 top the charts with their catchy yet somewhat offbeat songs.  It is no wonder that new bands riding on the crest of this wave like All Time Low assure that this phenomenom looks set to run and run.

  Formed in a high school in Baltimore, the band started out in 2006 doing a series of gigs that quickly gained the attention of independent label Emerald Moon records who signed All time low for a record deal that year.

  Since then the American band have recorded four studio albums, one live album and have had a string of hits that include the likes of The Wanted, Weightless and Umbrella – consistently topping the independent charts of the UK and America along with further success in the mainstream charts.

  As the band have grew, last year they signed to Dr Dre’s Interscope records in 2010 and released their album Dirty Work in January this year.  The bands popularity still continues to grow as their UK leg of their tour this month has completely sold out – as have many other dates in five different countries as the band have already booked in their first world tour.

  The All time low concert hits the Liverpool Echo arena on March 6.

• Mindwarp Down Memory Lane

  

  Eighties Grebo rockers Zodiac Mindwarp and the love reaction return to Liverpool as they hit the road this month for a trip down memory lane.

  The prime movers hit the road for a nine gig tour of the UK promoting their 2010 album ‘Midnight Ride’ with a plethora of hits from eighties and nineties.

  Lead singer Zodiac (Mark Manning) started the band during the mid-eighties after becoming disillusioned with being the editor of flexipop music magazine.  Swapping his job behind the desk for a rock and roll lifestyle in a band that in their 26 year career have gone on from strength to strength.

  During their nine album career, the band have shared stage with Guns n’ Roses, Iron Maiden and a studio with Alice Cooper. And their most memorable hit ‘Prime Mover’ still brings fond memories of their first album Tattooed Beat Messiah.

  Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction play the Liverpool O2 academy on March 19.

  International tales and stunning feats of acrobatics are on offer next week as the Chinese state circus visits Southport.

  Tales of heroism and spectacular feats of acrobatics feature as part of this great show, which includes an appearance from the Chinese Peking opera, plate spinners, and martial arts from kung fu experts, the Shaolin Warriors.

  This is the first tour of Europe by the circus that includes an interactive media event that mixes acrobatics, books, poems and film. All of which feature superb dance choreography and authentic Chinese music.
